WMF – Pair of Brass Wall Plaques with Embossed Portraits

£720 / set

Pair of wall plaques in brass, of the Art Nouveau period (1890–1910). Made by WMF (established 1853–present), each circular plaque carries a central portrait, one depicting a lady and the other a gentleman, enclosed within a running border of fruiting strawberry vines. The decoration unites natural motifs with fine repoussé work, a hallmark of WMF’s early twentieth-century production.

The softly domed surfaces reflect light across the relief, enhancing the rhythmic outlines of the tendrils and the gentle modelling of the figures. This pair shows the firm’s technical skill and the expressive elegance that define Continental Art Nouveau design.
