A Pair of Fluted Arts & Crafts Brass Candlesticks
£175 / set
This pair of Arts and Crafts brass candlesticks was produced around 1900 and reflects the simplicity and discipline of British domestic metalwork during the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910). Each candlestick is constructed in six assembled sections with reeded fluting to the column and a stepped circular base.
The design expresses British vernacular craftsmanship, where proportion and structural logic took precedence over applied ornament. Brass was favoured for its warm tone and malleability, allowing hand-finishing and assembly in workshops influenced by the ideals of Morris and Ashbee.
