Bedside cabinet in satin birch, aligned to the Aesthetic Movement, early phase c.1870s–80s in character. The narrow, vertical format has a framed and panelled door with a central turned walnut knob, set within a shallow moulded surround. A simple cornice and a block plinth give architectural footing without excess ornament, consistent with restrained Aesthetic taste for clear geometry and figured timber. The interior includes a shelf for practical bedside storage; the compact footprint suits a tight alcove or chimney-breast recess
