A fourteen seat Arts and Crafts oak 'D' end extending dining table with four extra leaves. Surrounded by a set of fourteen elegant Arts and Crafts oak dining chairs with heart cut-outs to the curved and shaped head rails and conforming shaping to the back of the drop in seats a sweet reflecting detail. This set was originally retailed by Harrods of London with two of the chairs still retaining their original paper labels. The quality of this dining table reflects it's craftsmanship. Only a prestigious company like Harrods could have achieved this level of engineering and also would have been one of the few retailing dining tables and chairs of this quality and size. Some of Harrods important customers at the time of the Arts and Crafts Movement and throughout the late 19th and 20th Centuries were :- Oscar Wilde, Lillie Langtry, Charlie Chaplin, Ellen Terry the most famous stage actress of her time whom had two children with Edward William Godwin an important architect and pioneer of The Anglo-Japanese Movement, Noel Coward, Gertrude Lawrence, Vivien Leigh, Sigmund Freud, AA Milne and The British Royal Family right up to today. Length closed 67", it will fully extend to just under 12' long, each of the four leaves are 19" wide, Width 4' 6". Circa 1900.
