W. A. S. Benson (Stamped) Copper and Brass Twin Candelabra
£950
This copper and brass twin candelabra by W. A. S. Benson was produced during the Arts and Crafts movement 1880–1910. Stamped beneath the base, it displays the functional elegance and refined construction that define Benson’s metalwork. The twin scrolling arms rise symmetrically from a square brass base to support two copper candleholders, their soft tonal contrast expressing the union of form and material at the heart of Benson’s design philosophy.
Benson’s work combined precision engineering with artistry, translating the ideals of Morris’s circle into practical, modern design. This model’s balance of line and proportion exemplifies his ability to fuse architectural discipline with decorative subtlety. The circular loop finial completes the composition with a restrained ornamental accent, characteristic of Benson’s lighting and domestic metalwares.
