The History of Art Nouveau is a four-hour documentary made up of six episodes and offers an in-depth exploration of Art Nouveau. The series focuses on an incredible seminal exhibition called 'Belle Choses', held at the Bröhan Museum in Berlin in March 2024. Presented by Tony Geering, the series delves into the history and origins, key figures, iconic architecture and enduring influence of this pivotal Art Movement. Featuring the museum's exceptional collection of Art Nouveau, including further important Decorative Arts that were made within the Art Nouveau Period, loaned for the exhibition by private collectors from around the world. Each episode provides expert insights and a compelling narrative from Tony Geering, Tobias Hoffmann (the Director of the Brohan Museum), and his wife Gurbet, all passionate experts in their fields of Decorative Arts, who bring the World of Art Nouveau and the Paris 1900 World Exhibition back to life.
An educational documentary that goes beyond the realms of an academic course on Art Nouveau, it will teach you all aspects of Art Nouveau that you can enjoy from the seat of your own comfy chair.
