Jesson Birkett, Attributed – Arts and Crafts Copper Fireside Log Box and Seat
£4,200
Copper fireside log box in metal aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1900, attributed to Jesson Birkett and Co. The front presents three floral panels set within arched frames, each with electric blue Ruskin ceramic jewels placed behind the flower heads. A compact upright form gives the piece a functional stance suited to a hearth or hallway.
The sides carry bronze cast organic handles and repeat the same floral decoration without the Ruskin jewels. Each panel is riveted and divided by shallow columnar elements. The box stands on bronze cast leaf style feet and includes a lift up leather seat and a removable tin liner. The configuration aligns with British Arts and Crafts metalwork of the period.
