Wall mirror in hand-hammered copper, of the Arts and Crafts Movement (1880–1910). Made by Liberty & Co. (established 1875–present), the rectangular ‘A’-framed design is constructed in broad copper panels with textured surfaces and raised rivet detail to each corner. The frame encloses the original bevelled glass plate mirror, its proportions and material treatment characteristic of Liberty’s metalwork around 1900.
The hammered finish reflects the movement’s emphasis on surface vitality and the honest expression of craft. The subtle dark patina enhances the modelling of the metal, giving depth and variation across the face of the frame. A refined yet robust furnishing piece that embodies the restrained aesthetic and craftsmanship for which Liberty & Co. became renowned.
