Thomas Jeckyll for Barnard Bishop & Barnard. An original Aesthetic Movement cast iron fireplace. The centre has a radiating decoration reminiscent of Jeckyll's cast iron garden bench design but with flames licking above, and flanked by the original Aesthetic blue tiles framed with tramline details. The original ash pan to the bottom centre has the known Jeckyll flower bud handle with conforming tramline details.
Each side of the fireplace opening are flat places for a kettle and to roast chestnuts. The lower decorated roundels are identical to a Thomas Jeckyll coal box that we also have available for sale. An image of the coal box and the Barnard Bishop & Barnard period advert with the identical roundels has been added for comparison.
Measurements: H 90 cm × W at front 92 cm × W at back 79.2 cm × Depth at the centre 31 cm.
