Pair of Arts and Crafts Oak Side Tables with Lower Plant Shelf c.1900 - Thumbnail 1

Pair of Arts and Crafts Oak Side Tables with Lower Plant Shelf c.1900

£2,000 / set

Pair of side tables in oak, aligned to the Arts and Crafts movement (1880–1910), c.1900. Square-topped forms on straight legs with a fixed lower shelf to each, giving a useful surface for a plant or books while keeping the plan visually light. The compact proportions suit corridor, bay, or fireside placement without crowding a room.

Open stretchers link legs to the square shelves, reinforcing the geometric character typical of restrained Arts and Crafts furniture. The design prioritises straightforward, honest construction and everyday service, aligning with vernacular tendencies within the movement. As a matched pair they read well flanking a sofa or chimney breast, offering balanced symmetry without visual fuss.
